The Southington Soccer Club, established in 1979, was founded by Bob Swanson. It provided a more competitive program for players than what SYSL was established for. It allowed our teams to play vs other local CT towns. The existence of the Club has enabled the youth of Southington to be able to play at at higher & more competitive skill level.

In our history, the "Club" has won many district championships as well as numerous tournaments. We are also very proud of our US Soccer Presidents Cup & our CT State Cup Champions & Runner Ups.

Southington Soccer Club ran a competitive tournament for 25 years and attracted many teams from all over the Northeast US.

The Southington Soccer Club has been fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers, coaches, assistant coaches, parents, & most of all players over the years.

The Southington Youth Soccer League was formed in 1975 out a great need for the high school and junior high schools to have some sort of soccer feeder program. It was early 1975 when Joe LaPorte and Al Lederman started their discussions about forming a soccer league in Southington. Joe was good at organizing & Al had soccer experience. Al was an All American at New York State University in Albany NY. Together they met with the West Hartford youth league to take notes, gets ideas, & asks questions. They advertised in a local paper and hosted a meeting at the YMCA.  It was April when everyone met to discuss and define how the SYSL was going to operate. They had kids playing by Sept 19th & within the first 5 years the league grew more than expected, soon they had new fields and field house at Recreation Park.

The Southington Youth Soccer League has been fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers, coaches, and assistant coaches over the years. SYSL continues to serve our community with its original principle that all players receive equal playing time, no matter their skill level.
